Matt Luke is Confident in His New Signal Caller

By Brian Scott Rippee,

Oxford, Miss – Jordan Ta’amu endured a wave of emotions when he found out Shea Patterson was going to miss the remainder of the season with a torn PCL.

“I was devastated,” Ta’amu said. “I wouldn’t wish that upon anybody,”

His phone began to flood with text messages, a heavy portion of them from teammates rallying behind their new signal caller.

“They were saying they had my back and I have theirs too,” Ta’amu said.… Read more...

Luke Recaps LSU Game, Previews Saturday’s Tilt with Arkansas

Ole Miss Football Head Coach Matt Luke met with the media Monday to recap the LSU game, and preview Saturday’s tilt with Arkansas (11 a.m., SEC Network).

Opening Statement…
“After looking at the tape, offensively, I thought the O-line did a nice job in the run game, and I liked our balance. I credit LSU – they did a nice job of taking away our explosive plays. We had some nice opportunities down the field and didn’t hit them. To win those games, you have to make those plays.… Read more...

Official Release on the Passing of Justin Reed

Reed, 35, was a Four-Time All-SEC Selection

OXFORD, Miss. – Justin Reed, the first Rebel to earn All-SEC honors all four years and the first two-time Wooden Award candidate from a Mississippi college, passed away early Friday morning (October 20, 2017) at the age of 35 following a battle with angiosarcoma.

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of an all-time Rebel great,” said Ole Miss men’s basketball head coach Andy Kennedy. “J. Reed epitomized the qualities of what it means to be an Ole Miss Rebel. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and to all those who mourn with us.”

After the Auburn game, we all heard Ole Miss coaches and players talk about how halftime of the Auburn game could be, and should be, a turning point for the rest of the season. We hear stuff like that sometimes and honestly don’t give it a second thought because we honestly believe it is just “coach speak” or the players trying to rally themselves. However, this time, it may be spot on.

In the 2nd half of that Auburn game, as we chronicled last week, this Ole Miss team appears to have finally woken up.… Read more...

“After reviewing the tape I was really excited. Anytime you get an SEC win, it’s a good thing. Watching the tape, it was the obvious. I’m really pleased with our balance offensively and I thought that really helped. Defensively, I really liked our energy — (we had) seven sacks, and they got some turnovers. So I’m really pleased with that.”

Ole Miss Hosts Vanderbilt on Saturday

By Brian Scott Rippee,

Oxford – A dip in temperature gifted Ole Miss with crisp, cool practice conditions on Wednesday, something the team savored while aware it is only temporary as the weather is supposed to get hotter as Saturday approaches.

“It was really hot yesterday and cooler today,” head coach Matt Luke said. “I think it is going to be hot again on Saturday. It is going to be a big deal on Saturday it being hotter than it has been for a couple games. I think our depth will be key.”

The Rebels are looking for their first win in over a month after a strenuous road trip came to a close.… Read more...
